Cartagena will go out on Thursday to the street in defense of the Mar Menor (29/10/2019)

This Thursday, October 30, Cartagena has an appointment with the defense of the Mar Menor through the call that the Federation of Neighborhood Associations, consumers and users of Cartagena and Region 'Fernando Garrido' has launched to make a call for attention to administrations and demand the recovery of the lagoon.

The SOS Mar Menor demonstration, which will depart at 6:00 p.m. from the Alameda de San Antón at the height of the Shield, will travel along said avenue towards the Plaza de España to continue along the Paseo Alfonso XIII until reaching the gates of the Regional Assembly, where a manifesto will be read, being scheduled to end at 9.30 pm.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, on behalf of the municipal government, has launched an appeal to the public to go out on Thursday afternoon and join in solidarity and with a 'peaceful spirit' to this demonstration, in which 'we have the opportunity to show the city that administrations can make a common front and we have to respond within the scope of our powers and our responsibility.'

For the occasion, the town hall will launch a special device that contemplates the necessary services so that everything runs smoothly.

In this sense, the Local Police will control the traffic in the area through which the route runs with agents and signaling along it.

From before the beginning of the demonstration, that is, before 6 in the afternoon, the passage of vehicles will be cut on the right side of the Alameda de San Antón, from Plaza María Cristina at the height of the Shield in the direction of the Spain Square.

There will also be cuts in the Plaza de España and access to it in the sense of the demonstration that will later occupy the entire Paseo Alfonso XIII.

This street will be completely cut off to traffic, on both sides, to the Regional Assembly, which will affect bus stops in the area.

Being two of the main avenues of the city, it is recommended that drivers avoid passing through them and look for alternative routes, such as Reina Victoria or Jorge Juan.

In addition, there has been a space on the esplanade of the Cartagonova Stadium as an area reserved for the arrival of buses with citizens who will participate in the demonstration.
