The Consistorial Palace of Cartagena was illuminated by World Polio Day (25/10/2019)

This Thursday, October 24, Cartagena joined the celebration of World Polio Day with the aim of raising awareness about this disease, which still affects children around the world.

The event has had the participation of Rotary clubs in the Region, including the Rotary Club of Cartagena.

For this reason, the facade of the City Hall of the City of Cartagena hosted a screening for the anniversary of this fight for the eradication of Polio.

Thus, images were shown about the work carried out by the clubs of the Region throughout the year throughout the world.

The event was the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the councilor delegate of Sustainable City and European Projects, Cristina Mora, and the mayor of the Municipal Corporation, María José Soler.

Every October 24, Rotary International celebrates World Poliomyelitis Day, in memory of Jonas Salk, a researcher who found the first vaccine to prevent this viral disease.

The disappearance of polio is Rotary's most important project and challenge to society since 1985.
