The mayor confirms the stability and continuity of the municipal government after the official expulsion of the Socialist mayor (17/10/2019)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has corroborated the stability and continuity of the government pact with PP and Citizens in a press conference after the official notification of his expulsion and the other socialist councilors of the party, which will happen to have the status of unassigned councilors of the Corporation.

Castejón, who has appeared with his groupmates, has sent a message of calm to the citizens, ensuring that nothing will change and that the good governance project for Cartagena will continue, as planned.

Castejón will remain as mayor until June 2021, the date on which she will become vice-mayor.

The rest of councilors will maintain throughout the legislature the same delegations of area and powers of government that they currently have.

In this way the current municipal government will continue to have 15 votes in the plenary, which ensures the absolute majority necessary to ensure its stability and the viability of its proposals for a "better Cartagena."

Castejón has also indicated that they will renounce the assignments that would correspond to them as unassigned councilors and that they would receive as well as the rest of the municipal groups.

He also referred to the disappearance of the spokesperson of the group that Alejandra Gutiérrez exercised and explained that in the informative commissions the non-ascribed councilors will have a personal and unweighted vote, so they will all attend the sessions that are convened.

Finally Castejón stressed that the new situation requires calm and rigor, counting all these decisions with the necessary legal support.
