The church of the Cemetery of Los Remedios recovers all its original iconography (10/10/2019)

From this Thursday, October 10, the Church of the Cemetery of Los Remedios in Santa Lucia once again has its entire iconography complete with the return to the temp of the last restorations of the original heritage, which completes all the iconographic program that had the chapel in its origins, at the end of the 19th century.

The works were removed from the temple to municipal offices for conservation and improvement, returning today to its original location in the Church with its completely restored primitive frames.

The councilor delegate of culture, Carlos Piñana, has visited its facilities today with the president of the Municipal Cemetery Board, Manuel Martínez, and the restorer of the works, Isidro Pérez.

In addition to the return of all the iconographic material of the Church, Pérez also notes that restorations have been made of the two paintings by Manuel Ussel de Guimbarda located on the two lateral brackets with their corresponding altarpieces and papal crown, along with their cleaning and treatment.

As well as the entire Via Crucis along with the restoration of the image of Virgen de los Remedios and a Christ by the same author, José Esteve Bonet, integrated into this iconographic program.

"Today marks a historic milestone in the Heritage of our city," as confirmed by the mayor during his visit, "is the only temple in Cartagena that retains all its iconography and furniture since its creation."
