The City Council of Cartagena values ​​in more than 5.5 million euros the damages caused by the cold drop (25/09/2019)

The local Government Board has approved on Wednesday morning, September 25, the initial assessment of the damage caused by the cold drop that hit the municipality of Cartagena.

As explained by Mayor Ana Belén Castejón, “the initial cost of repair, rehabilitation, reconstruction or replacement, where appropriate, of the damages suffered in real estate and infrastructure owned by the City Council of Cartagena amounts to a total of 5,504 .658.82 euros. "

This amount is broken down as follows:

- Damage to municipal buildings: 2,002,560 euros.

- Damage to municipal infrastructure: 1,207,687.86 euros.

- Damage to the coast: 1,160,000 euros.

- Supply of volunteer material: 5,458.72 euros.

- Emergency work companies: 132,960.98 euros.

- Damage to the integral water cycle: 924,418.22 euros.

- Damage to the cleaning service: 52,368.80 euros.

- Damages in urban transport: 19,204.24 euros.

In addition, 1,905 extra hours of the municipal service of Parque Móvil, Brigadas, Littoral Unit and Municipal Technical Services have been carried out.

They have gone to the OMITAS authorized to manage the crisis, 874 citizens, who have been informed of the procedures they must follow to request aid.

A number that will increase in the coming days as it is a process that remains open.

Regarding the area of ​​Social Welfare, in which 18 professionals have participated who have made a total of 324 hours, they have attended:

- 109 people in Villas Caravaning,

- 11 families in Los Nietos,

- 6 families in Los Urrutias and

- 21 families in Bahía Bella and La Arboleda.

Similarly, an investment of 9,529.87 euros has been made in food, clothing and mattresses provided to affected people.

EMERGENCY CONTRACTING

The local government has also informed the members of the Commission of the approval this morning of the exceptional contracting mechanism, which will allow the City Council to contract emergency works, contained in the damage report, without the need for financing.

The first works will be made under the Municipal Contingency Fund, endowed with 50,000 euros, and the rest will be contracted pending the receipt of both regional and state aid.
