The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Sports Area, Noelia Arroyo, attended on Wednesday afternoon, September 18, the technical meeting held each year by the Department of Sports at the beginning of the Baseball and Amateur Football Leagues with the presidents of the Clubs, where they valued the work of these "as promoters of sport."
Between the two leagues they add about 4,500 players who train and compete.
Arroyo stressed that “they do it to develop a hobby, but for us, as public officials, the practice of sport has other dimensions of great social importance, such as the practice of a healthy life and the benefits that team sport has for personal training and values of the youngest ”.
After the episode of torrential rains, Noelia Arroyo explained the work done by the technicians of the Department of Sports and Infrastructure.
“They went to work from the first day we had knowledge of the alert to minimize the effects of the rain.
These efforts have avoided damage, but those produced are substantial. ”
Specifically, in the Sports Palace, where the meeting was held, the parquet sports courts have not been damaged because the water was evacuated before it reached them, running the forecast that was made with water containment measures by the municipal officials, although there have been multiple serious leaks in changing rooms and outbuildings.
The deputy mayor said in this regard that "they are working hard with three shifts a day to recover the main facilities as soon as possible" and asked the clubs for patience if the municipal land where they train is still affected.
Even so, he showed the commitment of all employees of the Department and the Government to fully recover the integrity of the facilities.
