Cartagena Puerto de Culturas celebrates the XXX anniversary of Carthaginians and Romans with a varied program for all audiences (17/09/2019)

Cartagena Puerto de Culturas celebrates the XXX anniversary of the Carthaginian and Roman festivities with all the necessary ingredients to live in a suggestive and attractive way the historical moment of the city's most famous antiquity: the Second Punic War.

On Sunday, September 29, a special open day will be held, where you can visit the following museums and sites at their usual time.

Thus, the Punic Wall, the House of Fortune, the Museum of the Civil War Shelter, the Castle of the Conception, the Fort of Christmas and the Barrio del Foro Romano will have free admission during regular hours.

In addition to free admission, the Roman Theater Museum will extend its opening hours from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Likewise, during the entire holiday period, the partiers dressed in costumes corresponding to their troops and legions will have free admission to museums, sites and interpretation centers.

The Panoramic Lift, the Bus and Tourist Boat will have their corresponding fare.

On the other hand, a series of special activities have been scheduled, which highlights 'Carthaginians and Romans: Mediterranean flavors'.

All those who buy the entrance to the Interpretation Center of the Punic Wall will have the possibility of being able to taste Mediterranean flavors with a dish offered by the Posada de los Habaneros, which consists of a Spanish steamer cooked at low temperature that will be accompanied by an excellent wine, a Juan Gil oak special edition.

The price of this special activity is 6 euros.

Thus, also on the weekends of September, activities for adults and children will be intensified in the centers and museums that served as the setting for the Second Punic War.

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES

Every Sunday in September at 12:30 pm in the Punic Wall, the little ones can enjoy the theatrical visit 'Asterix and the Roman madmen'.

In this adventure, Asterix needs little helpers to unveil the secret of how the Roman madmen conquered Carthago Nova, by land and sea.

To do this, the little ones will have to decipher the code of Caesar, practice archery, and endless fun tests until they find out the powers of the Romans who made them beat.

The price of the activity is 8 euros for the general public, 4 euros for the members of the Cartagena Puerto de Culturas Club.

On September Saturdays at the Roman Theater Museum at 11 am, the whole family is invited to participate in 'Scipio VS Aníbal, the battle continues'.

For 4 euros or 2 euros for members of Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, you can relive the battle between Carthaginians and Romans with the clothing of the time.

GUIDED ROUTES AND SPECIAL VISITS

On Saturday in September at 11:30 in the Punic Wall, Casa de la Fortuna and Museo del Teatro Romano, 'Carthagineses y Romanos' will be developed, a route guided by several historical enclaves of the city of Cartagena to revive the battle between the two sides.

This activity has a price of 13 euros in individual fare, 10 euros in reduced and 6.50 euros for members of the Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.

On Sundays in September from 11:30 am, departing from the Museum of the Roman Theater, the guided route 'Citizens of an Empire' will be held.

In the tour that goes from the museum to the House of Fortune, passing through the Barrio del Foro Romano, attendees can discover how a citizen lived in the Roman Carthago Nova.

The route is available for 13 euros in individual fare, 10 euros in reduced and 6.50 euros for members of the Cartagena de Puerto Culturas Club.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in September from 6:30 pm at the Museum of the Roman Theater in Cartagena, the virtual tour of this historic city center will take place.

For 10 euros, visitors can discover the Roman Theater in its time, with a 360 degree view.
