The cleaning and maintenance of waterways and sewerage is intensified by a new 'cold drop' notice (10/09/2019)

The Department of Infrastructure, directed by María Casajús, has launched all the machinery and personnel of the City Council and the concessionaires to intensify the maintenance and cleaning of sewers and waterways, before the orange notice of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET ) of rains, which could reach up to 80 liters per square meter in one hour, on Thursday 12 and Friday September 13, and 200 liters per square meter in twelve hours.

Casajús has explained that "we are coordinating all the works of conditioning and cleaning of sewers and waterways that are developed throughout the year, but that are intensified especially in the dates where heavy rains occur."

The protocol of actions has been activated from the Control and Monitoring Center of Hidrogea, where 25 workers from the water and sewerage service concessionaire, Hidrogea, together with the subcontracted companies, are in charge this week of handling any type of traffic jam or problem in sewerage scuppers, to avoid possible flooding due to obstructions.

Also, the correct functioning of the pumping stations and the sewage plants has been verified, and the Lhicarsa concessionaire is carrying out the special cleaning of streets to avoid the obstruction of the sinks especially by the leaves of the trees.

PUMPING MACHINE NEXT TO THE FESTERO CAMP

The councilor recalled that since August, maintenance, control and cleaning of all facilities that may be affected by episodes of heavy rains have been carried out.

In fact, he stressed that “in the area where the Carthaginians and Romans camp is located, a pumping machine has been placed to avoid possible floods that may affect the festive site.

All the works of review and cleaning of the storm tank have been done and during these days the works are intensifying ”.

RAMBLES CLEANING

In addition, the Segura Hydrographic Confederation has been required to control cleanliness in ramblas and has indicated that “those that are of municipal competence, the proceedings began in August and have increased cleaning during the last days before the forecast of rains, especially, in those most conflictive points, such as the Rambla de El Albujón, where a brigade will be displaced to avoid possible problems in the traffic lanes and in the pumping areas.

Finally, the Councilor for Infrastructure has indicated that she has arranged machinery and personnel to provide support to the rest of the services, in the road cuts and in the removal of trees or elements that could fall on public roads.
