On Saturday, August 31, one of the most important sporting events of the summer in Cartagena will take place: the Ascent Cross to the Fountain of the Toad.
The Algar will host from about 7:00 pm about 1,000 participants of all ages to travel the almost 10 kilometers in which this athletics test consists.
The Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena collaborates in this event, in which there will be about 90 volunteers.
The Councilor delegate of Sports of Cartagena Diego Ortega has presented the Cross of Ascent to the Source of the Toad accompanied by the technical director of the test, Francisco José Campillo, the athlete María José Roca and the president of the Municipal Neighborhood Board of El Algar Paqui Martínez Sotomayor.
The Councilor for Sports Diego Ortega has described the event as one of the usual summer in Cartagena athletics and stressed that this year is given special importance to female participation.
In fact, this year's poster features a toad embodied in a woman like that of Quentin Tarantino's movie Kill Bill.
The technical director of the Cross Climb to the Fountain of the Toad, Francisco José Campillo, affirms that the event “I don't know if it is legendary, but it does have a tour.

One of the most outstanding runners of the Cross of the Climb to the Source of the Toad of El Algar is María José Roca, who has managed to finish on the podium on several occasions.
Last year was second.
