About 300 runners will participate in the VII Donkey Trail, for the benefit of children suffering from cancer (12/08/2019)

The Cartagena deputation of Perín, within the programming of its management parties in honor of the Virgen de la Piedad, organizes this Saturday, August 17, starting at 6:30 p.m., the seventh edition of its consecrated sports event, the Donkey Trail

In just 30 minutes after opening the registration period, tickets to participate in the race have been exhausted.

The presentation of this sports event, organized by the Party Commission of the Association of Neighbors of Perín, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena and the Kampamento Base Club, has been provided by the Councilor for Sports, Diego Ortega , accompanied by the technical director of the Donkey Trail, Nicolás Blanco and the manager of the Association of Family Members of Children with Cancer of the Murcia Region AFACMUR, Lourdes Albaladejo.

This year, the race proceeds will go entirely to this association that strives for improvements for children with this disease.

The route includes a mixed track and track circuit with an approximate distance of 17 kilometers and a positive slope of 800 meters.

As explained by the Councilor for Sports, Diego Ortega, “this test, which will begin at 7:30 pm and will pass through the spectacular surroundings of Perín, adds to the race calendar, organized during the summer months in the neighborhoods and districts of Cartagena â€.

Before the well-known Donkey Trail, the little ones can participate in the second edition of the Burrito Trail, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.

It is a test that, unlike the absolute one, is one kilometer long.

All sports events will depart from the Perín Soccer Field and at all times the runners will remain monitored or controlled by the Brotherhood of Legionaries of the Region of Murcia to ensure the safety of the participants and avoid any major damage.

The technical director of the race, Nicolás Blanco, has stressed that one of the moments of the test is when going down the mountain towards the goal "a light snake" is formed.

This is formed because the race starts in the afternoon and ends at dusk when the runners illuminate the descent with headlamps, an object “that all participants must carry for their safetyâ€.

At the end of the various tests, a dinner will be held at the Perín sports venue and the corresponding medals and trophies will be delivered.

The manager of AFACMUR, Lourdes Albaladejo, has concluded the appearance by thanking the work of all the organizers and collaborators that encourage these initiatives to support different associations.

To the questions of the journalists, the mayor delegate of Sports has explained that it is the intention of the City Council of Cartagena to “transfer the dependencies of the Department of Sports to the Sports Pavilion at the end of this yearâ€.
