The municipal brigades remove 120 tons of seaweed from the beaches of Cartagena during the weekend (05/08/2019)

The municipal brigades that work in the coastal area have removed a total of 120 tons of seaweed and upset on the beaches of Cala Reona, Playa del Levante, La Manga and west zone, after the temporary fort of Levante that had place last week, as reported by the Councilor for Infrastructure, María Casajús.

Casajús explained that "a total of 36 operators have been working on these beaches along the coast to give a quick response to the accumulation of contributions on the sand" where the councilor clarified that "these cleaning work intensified on the beaches of the Sea Mediterranean, during the days of Saturday and Sunday, when, due to the effect of the tides, the algae reached the shore ”.

During this summer, a total of 500 tons of algae have been removed on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor, where 130 workers belonging to the municipal brigades, brigades of the Autonomous Community and the rest of municipal services are working, to guarantee the better maintenance and cleaning of the area of ​​the Cartagena coast.
