Nearly two hundred people visit Victoria Cave in the last half of July (02/08/2019)

A total of 193 people have had the opportunity to meet Victoria Cave during the first shift of the labor camp, in which university students of Biology and Geology participate, with guided visits to this paleotological site that began on July 18.

In turns of approximately 21 people, visitors have learned about the mining history of Victoria Cave, the animals that inhabited it and its surroundings about a million years ago, as well as its heritage value today.

The site is recognized as a Site of Cultural Interest and as a Geological Site of International Interest.

Regarding the origin of the visitors, 71% come from Cartagena, while 21% from other towns in the Region of Murcia, highlighting residents of La Unión, the Llano del Beal and Murcia capital, and with 8% of communities like Alicante (Benidorm and Torrevieja), Madrid, Zaragoza and the Basque Country.

On the other hand, the foreign public represents 2.6% of the total visits of the first shift.

The visits will continue until Saturday, August 10 and are part of the field of work that is being carried out in the paleontological site of Victoria Cave, coordinated by the Cidaris Foundation and has the grant of the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Region of Murcia, the City Council of Cartagena and the Cidaris Foundation itself.
