Cartagena is once again the epicenter of the Black Novel (24/07/2019)

One more year, the Black Literature, Police and Mystery Days arrive at the hands of Cartagena Negra, a contest that will congregate from September 3 to 7 to renowned writers and young authors of this literary genre.

The El Batel Municipal Auditorium, Mister Witt Café and the Santos Ochoa Bookstore will host this cultural event organized by the City Council of Cartagena.

Round tables, short films, meetings with authors and awards will be present for 5 days in Cartagena to celebrate the Black Novel by the hand of those who make it possible.

The Councilor for Culture of Cartagena, Carlos Piñana, presented this Wednesday, July 24, the program of activities of the new edition of the event, together with the organizers of Cartagena Negra, Antonio Parra and Francisco Marín.

The mayor recalled that “one more year, Cartagena Negra is concerned with the dissemination of the black genre in all its cultural aspects and tries to bring the Cartagena reader closer to the most prominent authors of the genre, with figures such as Manuel Marlasca, Antonio Mercero or Susana Rodríguez, among others. â€

The head of Cartagena Negra Francisco Marín highlighted, for his part, that this year there has been a record in the number of works in the short film competition with 116 films from 5 countries: Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Andorra and the United States.

For his part, Antonio Parra announced that this 2019 edition will feature a micro-story contest organized by El Quinto Libro, official blog of Cartagena Negra.

He pointed out that this contest "is different from what we already have, because ours is live, we must come with a text already learned", and that it will have books as a gift to the winners.

The V edition of Cartagena Negra begins on September 3 with the delivery of the 1st Icue Black Novel Prize at Mister Witt Café at 9:30 p.m.

This is an award for young writers of stories of this kind.

At the same time the meetings with the participating authors of the first day of Cartagena Negra will take place.

This will be the culmination of a day that will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a round table in El Batel moderated by Francisco Marín starring Alicia Borrás, Manuel Fernández, Paula Olmedo and José Antonio Sau.

At 7 pm, the opening and presentation of the festival to the media will take place in the same place.

After the start, it will be the turn of the author Alexis Ravelo, who will talk about his work with the audience.

On Wednesday, September 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Auditorium El Batel, Sergeant Emilia, Benjamín Celdrán and Marcelino Sempere will participate in the presentation of 'The Black Gender and Children' (Super Pedrito, Fani To-pa-mi).

At the same time at the Santos Ochoa Bookstore, the author Claudio Celdrán will present his work 'Los señorres del humo'.

At 18:45 in El Batel, the first short film finalist of the contest will be screened.

In the same auditorium at 7 pm, Graziella Moreno, Rosa Ribas and David Llorente participate in the round table 'Black and Noir' moderated by Javier Manzano.

At 9:00 p.m., 'De Cañas Negra in Mister Witt Café' brings the meeting with the authors of this day in Cartagena Negra.

At 9:30 p.m., this same cafeteria houses a play by Teatro Negro 'Gregor Samsa'.

On Thursday, September 5, the day begins at 5:30 p.m. at El Batel with the round table on Black Novel and Cinema starring Cristóbal Terrer, Víctor Mirete, Alfonso Gutiérrez Caro and Jesús Boluda.

At 7:00 pm, in this same scenario, another finalist short film of the Cartagena Negra contest is screened.

At 7:15 p.m., the novel 'Wake me up when September ends' is presented by Monica Rouanet also at El Batel.

At 9:00 pm, Mister Witt Café hosts a new meeting 'De Cañas Negra' with the authors participating in the activities of the day, who will also sign copies of their works, as in other meetings with authors.

At 9:30 p.m., Mister Witt Café hosts the awards ceremony of the 'The Fifth Book' Micro-Story Contest.

On Friday, September 6, the Santos Ochoa Bookstore hosts a meeting of author Marta Robles with reading clubs at 5 pm.

In El Batel, at 5:30 p.m. there will be a round table 'Blogs and Black Magazines' with Cristóbal Terrer of The Fifth Book, Daniel L. Hawk of Solo Novel Negra, Paco Atero and Ricardo Pascual of 'Negra y Mortal' and Daniel Fopiani of Stories without a contract.

At 6:45 p.m., the Cartagena audience shows a new short finalist of the black short film contest in Cartagena Negra.

At 19 hours on the same stage, the round table 'Fiction and reality' will feature Blas Ruiz Grau, Manuel Marlasca and Alfonso Egea and the moderation of Chema Gil.

At 9:00 pm in Mister Witt Café, De Cañas Negra with the participating authors of the day.

At 22 hours in this establishment, we will proceed to read 'Leave your hat here'.

The contest of black micro stories will also be held.

On Saturday, September 7, El Batel hosts at 17 hours a meeting of Felix J. Palma with reading clubs.

At 5:30 p.m. on this stage, Susana Rodríguez Lezaun, Mariano Sánchez Soler and José Ramón Gómez Cabezas, with the moderation of Antonio Parra, will talk about curators and writers.

At 18:45, El Batel hosts the awards ceremony of the black short film competition.

After the event, the short winner will be screened.

At 19 hours, the auditorium hosts the round table 'Rainbow Black', moderated by Ana Ballabriga, and starring Antonio Mercero, Susana Hernández and Prado G. Velázquez.

At 9 pm, 'De Cañas Negra' will bring together all the writers of the day in Mr. Witt Café.

Cartagena Negra will put an end to the closing and delivery of the III Prize for Cartagena Negra Novel at 9:30 p.m. at the Mister Witt Cafeteria.
