Next Friday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m., the auditorium of the Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena will host the conference of the archaeologist and speleologist Sergio García Dils on the speleological explorations in the deepest Simas of the Planet such as the massif of Arabica, the Western Caucasus or the Republic of Abkhazia.
In this conference we will see the results of the speleological work developed by the CAVEX Team of the International Underground Exploration Team in the main karstic massifs of the world, which have resulted in the most outstanding achievement of the world record of depth in an underground system of the Western Caucasus.
They accompanied him in the act the Federation of Speleology of the Region of Murcia.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sergio García Dils holds a Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of Seville, with an extraordinary Doctorate Award from that institution for his doctoral thesis.
Previously, he studied postgraduate studies at the Pushkin State Institute in Moscow.
Municipal Archeologist of Écija de Arqueología, is part of the Local Historical Heritage Commission.
As a speleologist it is considered one of the most outstanding in the world, it has led the expeditions that have beaten the cave world record in depth in 2001 (-1710 m), 2004 (-1840 m and -2080 m), 2005 (- 2140 m) and 2007 (-2170 m) in the Krúbera-Voronya chasm (Arábika Massif - Western Caucasus - Republic of Abkhazia).
He has been awarded twice with the prize of the International Union of Speleology, and has been distinguished with various decorations both in Spain and in Russia.
He is also the author of numerous articles in specialized magazines on the subject.
In 2013, he was the one who captained the team of speleologists who took part in the television broadcast of Abkhazia, trapped underground, special program of Extreme Challenge of Jesus Calleja.
And in 2016 he was elected "Traveler of the year" by the Spanish Geographical Society.
