Malvariche will perform for the first time at the Cartagena Folk Festival in its tenth edition (13/06/2019)

The Cartagena Folk Festival will once again fill the streets of the port city with root music in its fourth edition, since it recovered in 2016. A festival, whose origin dates back to 1999, celebrates its tenth anniversary, from July 5 to 7 , with the performances of the Alhameños Malvariche and the Madrid group Colectivo Panamera, on the Explanada del Puerto de Cartagena.

All musical performances are free.

The people in charge of presenting the details of the event were the acting mayor of Culture in the City of Cartagena, David Martínez, and the festival coordinator, Toni Peña, who highlighted Juan José Robles' musical performance as one of the novelties of the festival this Friday, June 14, at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, at 8:30 p.m.

A performance that will serve to bring the Folk to the audience and to inaugurate this festival, consecrated in the city.

The councilman of Culture in functions, David Martinez, has explained that this festival has served as a "standard of music root" and to accommodate "young and innovative proposals that hardly reach the public through the major commercial music channels" .

A few words shared by the festival coordinator, Toni Peña, who has highlighted the performances of Malvariche and Colectivo Panamera, among the musical proposals, which can be heard on the first weekend of July.

Malvariche, according to Toni Peña, "a Folk group that is a reference for our Region", will perform for the first time in this festival on Friday, July 5.

Colectivo Panamera is a multicultural band from Madrid, composed by Nacho Taboada, Pepe Curioni and Vanja Polaceki, who drinks influences from cumbia, rockabilly, carnavalito, calypso or rock and roll.

The performance will take place on Saturday, July 6.

The coordinator of the festival explained that it is a very varied program, from morning to night, but, that at night "we will try to finish early so as not to impede the rest of the neighbors of this area".

Before these musical performances in the port, singer Juan José Robles will inaugurate this festival presenting his new album 'In-Quietud' this Friday, June 14, at 8:30 p.m. at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

Admission is free until full capacity is reached.

In addition to musical performances, there will be a food fair with food trucks, craft stalls, entertainment, DJs and concerts for children.

In this new edition, the poster has been made by Cayetano Gutiérrez.
