Directors and heads of studies meet to evaluate the results of the Participatory Budgets in the educational centers (17/05/2019)

This morning there was a meeting chaired by the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Juan Pedro Torralba, to assess the development of participatory budgets in schools and propose other ideas for future calls.

It involved directors, heads of studies and responsible for this pilot initiative belonging to four institutes (IES Mediterranean, IES El Bohio, IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores and IES Galileo Pozo Estrecho) and six schools (CEIP José María Lapuerta, CEIP Vicente Medina, CEIP San Ginés de la Jara, CEIP Miguel de Cervantes, CEIP San Fulgencio de Pozo Estrecho, CEIP Virgen del Carmen and CEIP Santa Florentina de la Palma).

"We have been visiting the different centers, both schools and institutes and the participation and involvement of both the faculty and the student has been impeccable," said the mayor of Citizen Participation.

The mayor also noted that during the meeting has been analyzed the development of the entire process and the voting and has discussed on how to improve future pilot experience in the coming years, with other ideas to make these budgets participatory as feasible as possible.

Specifically, the representatives of the centers have valued the experience very positively and have asked for it to be maintained in the coming years but expanding the number of beneficiary centers and extending the participation process to the entire academic year and not to three months, as has happened in the past. This time.

In the meeting they have also projected some videos made by the centers about the process together with the students.

On Monday, May 13, the results of the voting of the 2019 Participatory Budgets were known in eleven schools and institutes of the municipality, which took place between May 6 and 8.

Around six thousand students gave their opinion on improvement needs to be made in their centers with the help of 110,000 euros that the City will allocate from this initiative of the Department of Citizen Participation, 10,000 euros for each.
