The Palace of Sports of Cartagena will host, from May 17 to 19, the 20th edition of the Group Aesthetic Gymnastics World Championship, as well as the Cartagena Children Trophy.
There are 178 teams from 28 countries, which will participate in this World Cup jointly organized by the City of Cartagena, the Spanish Association of Aesthetic Gymnastics Group and the International Federation of Aesthetic Gymnastics Group.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presented the sports event accompanied by the Councilor for Sports of Cartagena, Manuel Mora, the president of the Spanish Association of Group Aesthetic Gymnastics, Francisca Martínez, and the honorary president of the International Gymnastics Federation Group Aesthetics, Aleksandra Tuomala-Jantunen.
They have been accompanied by representatives of the companies and entities that sponsor this competition, such as the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, ALSA, Collados Sport, Virgen de la Caridad Medical Center, Jimbee, Discecar, Equidesa, Artelove and Hidrogea.
This tournament also has the support of the Federation of Troops and Legions of Carthaginians and Romans, who will be present at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Group Aesthetic Gymnastics World Championship.
There will be three categories of competition: children, junior and senior.
In mixed senior, Spain starts as one of the big favorites, as it has the endorsement that has given the latest results in international competitions.
They have won 3 world gold medals in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In addition, they are the current national champions in that category.
They also won two bronzes in the Group Aesthetic Gymnastics World Championship by countries in 2014 and 2015.
The first mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has assured that "we are in luck, we decorate ourselves in the sports venue par excellence that is the Palace of Sports of Cartagena.
This weekend will be filled with tapestries, all the necessary infrastructure between the auxiliary track and the main one to host the championship. "
Castejón wanted to thank the International Federation of Group Aesthetic Gymnastics for the confidence in Cartagena to organize this tournament.
There will be 1,700 gymnasts among all categories, 250 technicians, 60 judges of different nationalities and 150 volunteers.
The Board of Directors of the International Federation of Aesthetic Gymnastics of the Group will also be present.
All of them will be housed in 11 hotels of the municipality during the event.
The competition will start on Friday, May 17 at 8:30 am with the children's competition.
On Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be the finals of the XX edition of the Group Aesthetic Gymnastics World Championship.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES
During the celebration of the World Cup, other acts related to the Group Aesthetic Gymnastics will be carried out.
One of the most outstanding is the celebration of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Group Aesthetic Gymnastics.
Its honorary president, Aleksandra Tuomala-Jantunen, has been very grateful that Cartagena can celebrate this World Championship.
In addition to the official act of the IFAGG, there will be training activities for judges and technicians, such as a methodology course for them on May 20 at the Palace of Sports of Cartagena.
TIMETABLE, PRICE AND PLACE OF SALE OF TICKETS
Tickets will be on sale starting Thursday, May 16 at the ticket office of the Palace of Sports of Cartagena.
That day can be purchased from 15 to 20 hours.
On Friday the 17th they will be available from 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the morning and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
On Saturday 18 tickets will be on sale from 9 and until 12:30 in the morning, and from 14 to 19 in the afternoon.
On Sunday, May 19th, the ticket offices will be open from 10 to 12 hours.
As for the Cartagena Children Trophy, tickets for the preliminary round that will take place on Friday, May 17 will cost 5 euros.
For the final phase of the children's tournament, to play on Saturday morning, the tickets will be worth 6 euros.
The bonus to attend the entire children's tournament is priced at 10 euros.
For the junior and senior categories, the preliminary round on Saturday afternoon will have tickets available for 6 euros.
Those interested in attending the final of the junior and senior championships have tickets for 10 euros.
The bonus to witness all the junior and senior competition is 15 euros.
