The students of the Virgen del Carmen school present their proposals in the Participatory Budgets 2019 (11/04/2019)

In total, eleven schools in Cartagena have been involved in this year's Participatory Budgeting, where students of these colleges or institutes decide how to invest 10,000 euros.

The objective is to promote citizen participation among the youngest.

This morning, the Councilor for Education, Mercedes García, visited the Virgen del Carmen school to see what proposals the students of this center are working on and how they would like to invest their budget.

These proposals must meet certain requirements such as the fact that it is municipal competence or does not exceed the allocated budget.

It will be after the Easter holidays when the students debate their proposals and between the 6th and the 8th of May the voting will take place to decide what they want to improve or change in their educational center.

This year, the eleven centers that have participated are: CEIP Virgen del Carmen, IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores (both already participated in the pilot experience last year), plus the infant and primary schools, San Ginés de la Jara de El Llano, San Fulgencio de Pozo Estrecho, Santa Florentina de La Palma, Miguel de Cervantes de La Aljorra, José María Lapuerta of Barrio Peral, Vicente Medina of Los Dolores, the institutes of El Bohío, Galileo de Pozo Estrecho and the IES Mediterráneo de la Mediterranean urbanization.
