On the afternoon of Monday, the councilor of MC Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, presented, during the meeting of the Permanent Assembly of Performing Arts, a series of initiatives aimed at improving the present and future of culture in the municipality.
The event, held at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, counted with the participation of members of the political groups represented at the City Council.
In the first place, the mayor and responsible for Culture Cartagena thanked all those groups "with their work make this huge piece of our culture great." His collaboration is essential for the City, so it must offer support and solid support to all they".
In this way, with that fundamental basis, he added, "we should think of initiatives that will help in a real way the impulse of these arts so that everyone who dedicates their time to them and wants to develop this activity as a professional outlet has a little easier".
Proposals for the promotion of culture in Cartagena
Among the proposals made by Segado, highlights the creation of a specific Center for the Performing Arts on the top floor of the Bus Station.
"It is a space with sufficient space to accommodate all the cultural groups and the respective activities they carry out," he stressed.
It should be remembered that this project, boycotted by the Autonomous Community, began with the Government of José López, who tried to reopen the Cine Central as a cultural center for the development of these arts.
"Therefore, we worked on a plan B, specifically, the adaptation of the upper floor of the bus station to turn it into a multidisciplinary artistic center."
Thus, the head of Culture of MC has remarked that "it is one of the few municipal spaces available for being wasted, we believe that, for its central location, would be a good place for this purpose."
Specific municipal budget for Performing Arts
In addition to the cession of sufficient and adequate space, Ricardo Segado has assessed the need for an economic contribution by the local government.
"From MC we believe that the Performing Arts deserve a specific budget in the accounts of the City Council, a nominative game that guarantees constant help to these cultural branches."

Census of local artists, increased visibility of the performing arts ...
In the same way, Segado continued his presentation with proposals such as the creation of a census of local artists, an initiative already presented by MC at the municipal plenary session held on March 30, 2017 and approved unanimously;
to return the statue of the famous Cartagena actor Isidoro Máiquez to the center of the Plaza San Francisco, to continue thus honoring his memory, or the increase of the visibility of the scenic arts in society, moving the stage to the streets.
Lastly, he focused on issues such as the promotion of arts such as flamenco or orchestras through collaboration agreements that ensure a prosperous future for these groups.
"This base is the associative fabric, since it brings together all the people who form the art of theater, dance or music in Cartagena, for us it is essential to listen to them and work hand in hand," concluded Ricardo Segado.
