After the registration period for the 'IV Contest of beautification of balconies and facades in the Holy Week city of Cartagena', nine are the balconies and facades that this year compete in this contest.
The streets Mayor, Canales, Aire, Santa Florentina, Plaza del Risueńo and out of competition, but that receives a Special Mention, José Rosique del Llano del Beal Street will be those that welcome the hangings, galas and decorative elements of the participating balconies in the fourth edition of this contest.
The balconies and facades should remain adorned from today, Monday 8 until April 21, both inclusive.
Because it is outside the scope stipulated in the rules of this contest, the inscribed balcony located in the Casino del Llano del Beal on Calle José Rosique, designed by architect Victor Beltrí, will receive a 'Special Mention' for its support of this initiative, a fact that It should serve as an example for the inhabitants of the city of Cartagena.
The jury, made up of the councilman of Culture, David Martínez Noguera, technicians of this council, the people in charge of the Art Commissions of the Cofradías California, Marraja and of the Risen One, Ángel Julio Huertas, José Pérez Martínez and Pedro Giménez Saura, the Chaplain of the Brotherhood of Socorro, Lázaro Gomaríz, the Director of the Museum of the Roman Theater, Elena Ruiz Valderas, as well as several components of the Association Women Cofrades of Cartagena, will make in the next week the valuation of these balconies, making known at the beginning of Holy Week which are the winners.
The prizes are:
1st prize, endowed with € 250 and diploma- 2nd prize, endowed with € 150 and diploma
Two runners-up, endowed with € 50 and a diploma
Special mention to the most original
The winners will be given a poster indicating the prize won so that it can be installed, if they wish, in the winning façade or balcony.
The list of registered balconies and the winners of the prizes will be announced next Holy Monday, April 15.
From the Association Women Cofrades of Cartagena wanted to thank the participants in the Fourth Edition of this contest, with which encourage all the inhabitants of the city of Cartagena to decorate their facades and balconies for the celebration of Holy Week, hoping that these contribute a varied and beautiful color to the streets of our city.
