The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena hosts the presentation of the book'Murcianas de Dinamita' by Antonio Botías (08/04/2019)

Antonio Botías, journalist, professor and Official Chronicler of Murcia, will present his book "Murcianas de dynamite" at the Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena next Tuesday, April 9 at 8 pm, in which he recovers the biographies of 150 women who contributed to forge the history of the Region of Murcia.

The author proposes a journey from the 5th century to the present day through the biographies of these women, some of them forgotten, who were pioneers in their disciplines and who stood out both in art and in medicine, culture or science, among many other fields, and that due to their singularity have passed to the imaginary of memory through generations, although Botías adds a good number of them rescued from oblivion.

An essential book to understand the future of the presence of women in our Region.

The author puts the focus of attention on his biographies, analyzed in his time and social context, of the most important women in the history of the Region.

Among them are Carmen Conde, the first academic of the Language;

María Cegarra, first graduate in Chemistry;

Victoria Pérez Rivas, the inventor of aluminum drums;

María Jover and Beatriz Blesa, the first judge and registrar of property in Spain, respectively;

Josefa del Toro, first ambulance driver in the country;

Concepción Sánchez-Pedreño, first dean of Chemistry in Spain;

or Francisca Moya of the Bath, the first Murcian professor.

Along with them are other women who triumphed throughout the world and were pioneers in art, science and culture.

This is the case of Charo Baeza, the only Spaniard who has been turned into a character from the popular Simpsons series;

the inventor of the rumba-pop that dazzled Salvador Dalí, Maruja Garrido;

the first attempted acequias in history, Josefa Hernández Marín;

or the Murcian who shared the birth of nuclear energy with several Nobel prizes, Piedad de la Cierva.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Antonio Botías Saus (Murcia, 1975), has a degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Media.

He has developed part of his journalistic career in the newspaper La Verdad wrote for a decade thousands of reports for the newspapers of the Vocento Group, including El Norte de Castilla and El Correo Vasco.

It has also gone through the microphones of the Cadena Ser and Radio Levante.

Later he would also do it at Radio Intereconomía and Punto Radio, until he came to television on Channel 6, where he worked as a presenter and producer.

He has collaborated in other media such as 7RM, Onda Regional, Televisión Murciana, Onda Cero, Cadena Cope and Cadena Radio.

On the other hand, he participated in various press cabinets, among which the International Festival of Cante de las Minas or the Huerta de Los Alcázares Week stand out.

In La Verdad he has created his own style, specializing in information about culture and heritage, along with reports of a human nature and with a great literary load, which have earned him outstanding awards and recognitions, among them the appointment of Official Chronicler of the City of Murcia in 2013.

Regarding his research production, Antonio Botías, has focused his work on the history of the Huerta de Murcia and its popular traditions, the history of the press of the Region, the legacy of many illustrious figures, wars, epidemics and floods, the Justice and crime, folklore as a means of expression and the transformation of the city in the last century.
