Queen Isabel La Católica recaptures Cartagena (05/04/2019)

The discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, the Treaty of Tordesillas, the redemption of Granada, the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of the Moors are some of the facts that were lived in Spain during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs.

Some are peaceful facts and others are stained with blood.

Keys to our History, which have been accurately reflected in both Spanish and international films and series.

One of them, has been the television series' Isabel, of RTVE, broadcast from September 10, 2012 until December 1, 2014 and starring Michelle Jenner and Rodolfo Sancho in the roles of the Catholic Monarchs.

The series 'Isabel' disembarks in Cartagena, in the castle of the Conception, with a new exhibition of Cartagena Port of Cultures and in which the Department of Tourism of the City of Cartagena collaborates.

The exhibition under the name 'Isabel La Católica' will deal with the queen who exercised power for herself and led the union of the Hispanic kingdoms to the height of her prestige.

Isabel I of Castile is the first most important female historical character in the History of Spain.

The government of Isabel I of Castile was decisive for the History of Cartagena when in 1503 the city and its port were reincorporated into the Castilian crown, thus beginning a period of opening to the Mediterranean in the Modern Age.

This document along with the expulsion of the Jews of 1492 will be part of the exhibition that will be until September.

The Councilor for Tourism, David Martínez, accompanied by the head of teaching and dissemination of Cartagena Port of Cultures, Encarna Zamora, visited the exhibition guided by two actors dressed as Isabel I of Castilla and Christopher Columbus.

An exhibition where tourists and Cartagena were transported to the Middle Ages thanks to the costumes, armor and objects of the series harmonized with the soundtrack of this.

The Councilor for Tourism, David Martinez, explained that "the exhibition is composed of costumes and scenes have been recreated, with a storyline where highlights the throne of the kings, the coronation or the treasure of the queen, where he will contemplate the jewels that followed the Renaissance models and coins minted by the monarchs ".

Visitors will get to know Nasrid fashion through the characters in the Reconquista of Granada and navigate to the New World through the figure of Columbus.

In addition, the mayor of Culture has noted that "you can see excellent facsimiles of the queen as his testament or prayer books, swords, coins or inventions of navigation."

This traveling exhibition, which has been shown in more than 30 Spanish cities, has achieved a great success of affluence, achieving a high satisfaction due to the quality of the costumes, exquisite fabrics and ornaments very careful.

Said exhibition can be visited at the Castillo de la Concepción until September 30, where according to the person responsible for teaching and disseminating Cartagena Port of Cultures, Encarna Zamora, "a wide program of activities will be developed in addition to the guided visits to The exhibition".
