We can ask the SMS to report all asbestos death cases (01/04/2019)

The purple formation will ask the Local Government to fulfill its commitment and require the Ministry of Health to provide the data of death by asbestos in the Region, and above all to inform the families of the victims of the cause of death, that has not been done in all cases as reported by the association of affected (APENA)

The association of affected by asbestos, APENA, has reported that the Murcian Health Service and the Ministry itself do not inform all families of the deceased that the cause of death has been asbestos.

In this way, it is the regional administration itself that is breaking the law.

As a result of this denunciation, CTSSP-PODEMOS will ask the Local Government to demand in turn the Ministry to inform the association of those affected of all asbestos deaths in the Region, specifying the deaths that are from Cartagena, and detailing

a) Mesotheliomas of men and women, indicating the year of death (although in women it may be extra-work due to domestic or environmental contamination).

b) Pulmonary cancers due to asbestos by year of death.

c) Asbestosis by year of death.

Pilar Marcos, a spokesperson for the municipal group and candidate for mayor, has said: "Since APENA we have been told that the association is not informed of all cases of death by asbestos, and of course they do not do the same with the families of the victims.

That is why we are going to ask the Local Government to demand maximum transparency with this matter, and to stop underestimating asbestos deaths in Cartagena and in the Region, a shameful silence that is the product of pure economic reasons. "

The training purple has reported that, according to the data held by APENA, in 2015, 2016 and 2017 only 36 men died of mesothelioma, of which only 7 cases were reported.

Have families been informed of the 29 cases that are not known?

During those same years 9 women have died, to which we must add 41 previous deaths.

Have families been informed in those cases as well?

The mayor has ended explaining that the Socialist Government had committed in the plenary session last February to request this information from the Ministry of Health ... a commitment that was the product of a motion of CTSSP-PODEMOS approved in plenary unanimously.
