Students of La Asomada propose more than 200 measures to improve the Mar Menor (11/03/2019)

The students of 6th grade of the School of La Asomada have submitted more than 200 proposals to the City of Cartagena to help improve the Mar Menor.

These ideas try to help reduce water and air pollution in the area.

They also seek to protect the native fauna and flora, the sustainable development of the Mar Menor and the promotion of responsible tourism with the ecosystem of the salt lake.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, received on Monday, March 11, these children and their guardians in the Palace Hall.

The first mayor of the city has congratulated them for their work and encouraged them to continue contributing their ideas to the improvement of the Mar Menor.

The tutor of 6Âş A of Primary of the School of the Asomada, Francisco Ruiz Salmerón, affirms that the idea arose after the cancellation of a visit that his students had predicted to the Grandchildren, by environmental reasons.

Salmerón says that "as a result of that, it was explained to the children the problems that the Mar Menor had had.

They were making four big blocks of problems.

We did it together with the families and the neighbors. "

Among the measures that students have proposed, is the creation of a greenway that connects the entire Mar Menor, a park of sculptures with fauna and flora of the area.

In addition, it has been proposed the creation of an interpretation center in Las Amoladeras or the use of biodegradable materials in the beach bars, among many other ideas.

Iván Martínez, student of 6th grade of the School of La Asomada, proposes to create an aquarium in Cabo de Palos, because "being in Murcia there is now, it is further away from the Mar Menor, and it is more difficult to investigate the waters.

If there were one in Cabo de Palos, the distance would be shorter and the waters of the Mar Menor could be investigated more easily. "

For his part, Román Gallardo, 6th grade student at La Asomada School, wants to reduce the parking areas around the salt lake, "to build more parks so that children can enjoy the Mar Menor and La Sleeve".

The students of La Asomada School also bet on the efficient management of waste.

"My proposal is that a paper number be placed in the bins for when the bag is full, replace it," says Lázaro Conesa.

The City of Cartagena has submitted the proposals to all councils to study their viability.

The students of 6th grade of the School of La Asomada have spent nine months doing this battery of measures with which they intend to revitalize the Mar Menor.
