During the fiscal year 2018, the Autonomous Community invested a total of 1,225,700 euros in the improvement of the conservation of different roads in the regional network that run through the municipality of Cartagena.
The actions are part of the annual program planned by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure.
The most important amount amounting to 715,800 euros was used to maintain the conservation of the RM-12 motorway passing through this region.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, accompanied by the Director General of Roads, Francisco González Manzanera, recently visited the Center for Conservation of the Sector of Cartagena to analyze the actions to be carried out this year, which will have an allocation of more 400,000 euros, higher than last year.
One of the most outstanding actions was the completion of the RM-314 highway, which connects Los Belones and Portmán.
It is a large-scale project that has been developed in two annual installments, which consisted in expanding the width of the platform and the bike path, as well as the construction of a semi-masonry and three roundabouts.
The improvements in this route, which has a daily traffic of 4,200 vehicles, are favoring communications between the municipalities of Cartagena and La Unión, and improving access to tourist areas.
There has also been a reinforcement of the road surface and improvement of road safety on the road between Cuesta Blanca and Perín, RM-E26, which has involved an investment of 98,000 euros.
In addition, punctual actions have been carried out of repainting of road markings, reconstruction of walls, replacement of handrails and formation of gutters in different roads valued at 172,200 euros.
