Cs votes against the taxi ordinance due to the lack of social support and accuses MC and PSOE of not having taken the sector since 2015 (28/01/2019)

- "I can not understand why the PSOE government keeps crashing again and again in the wall of political imposition and does not embrace a more conciliatory and constructive attitude, what has happened with the taxi ordinance has passed with the accounts of Casco Antiguo, with those of the ADLE, with the municipal budgets, it is as if the PSOE surrendered before time before the political negotiation or they did not know that they are in an absolute minority ", has indicated the spokesman of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín

Cartagena, Monday, January 28.

After attending the ordinary session of the Finance and Interior Commission in which, among other matters, the proposals on updating the salaries of the posts reserved for Officials with National Qualification and the approval of the Municipal Ordinance Regulating the Service of Urban Public Transport of Travelers in Tourism Vehicles by taxi in the municipal area of Cartagena (finally withdrawn), the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, explained that "both proposals suffer from sufficient political and technical support".

Regarding the taxi ordinance, Ciudadanos believes that "the conditions of consensus that such an important document requires to give our support are not met, without the collaboration of the taxi collective we are condemned to have a regulation that is going to fail provoke an undesirable schism, we must be able to reach a prior agreement, sometimes giving in and explaining a thousand times if the legal limits that exist are needed, before imposing an ordinance that will mark the future of such an important sector, " Manuel Padín who does not explain "how the PSOE government keeps crashing again and again in the wall of political imposition and does not embrace a more conciliatory and constructive attitude, what has happened with this ordinance has happened with the accounts of Casco Old, with those of the ADLE, with the municipal budgets, it is as if the PSOE surrendered before time before the political negotiation or did not know that they are in a minority

absolute ".

In addition, according to Manuel Padín "some of the allegations made by the Association of Autonomous Taxi Workers of Cartagena and District are fully justified, not so the rejection of the socialist government, especially the one that has to do with adapted taxis or conditions of the temporary suspension of licenses. "

Neither PSOE nor MC helped the sector

On the other hand, the Citizens spokesperson recalled that in November 2017 his Group wanted to clarify in the ordinary plenary session the current status of the viability plan for the sector and to know when the City Council planned to resolve the allegations to the future ordinance. At the time, the MC councilor, Isabel García, responded that "the Plan did not have a termination date, because the relationship is dynamic, and that they are in permanent contact with taxi collectives, and that the real challenge was in the strategic plan of the transport, and that is therefore a challenge at the regional level ".

When MC went to the opposition, he filed a motion asking the City Council to urgently "develop" the Viability Plan for the Taxi Sector and approve the ordinance, "see to believe, MC was two years in the Government justifying the delays without date, ninguneando to the sector and in the opposition it removes the whip, pure political incoherence, something insane ".

"The taxi sector does not deserve this treatment from politicians", concludes Manuel Padín, who has asked the City Council to resolve his doubts as soon as possible, and answer "why he does not draw the Strategic and Feasibility Plan of the Taxi commissioned in July 2017 to the UPCT by the City Council ".
