We can ask that the structural decisions on mobility be included in the new General Plan (17/01/2019)

The purple formation insists that citizens should be the ones who think about what actions are more convenient to adapt the city and advance mobility and sustainability from here to the next decades.

Due to the increasing number of citizen complaints regarding traffic and mobility that the municipal group is receiving, CTSSP-PODEMOS has criticized that no municipal government has taken sustainable mobility seriously in our municipality, and that everything goes to improvisation or arbitrary decisions of a minority government, when the strategic and structural criteria for the Cartagena of the future should be clear in advance.

In the opinion of the purple formation, no mobility plan has ever been put in place, which reduces and pacifies the traffic of vehicles, that educates the citizens to use the transport in a responsible way with the environment, but it is that they have not finished either the "bicycle lane" belt that included 6.7 km around the city, a project that was approved in 2002, with the PP government, and that has not been completed 16 years later.

Since Podemos has been insisting for months that the municipal government must perform the committed actions in terms of traffic, mobility and road safety so that Cartagena is directed to be a pedestrian-friendly municipality, thereby fulfilling its obligation and launching initiatives approved in the Plenary, such as those listed below:

Design and execution of an Integral Sustainable Mobility Plan.

Pedestrianization of streets and measures to guarantee universal accessibility.

Creation of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Office.

Review of pedestrian crossings and traffic signs in hazardous areas.

Update of speed reducers and other preventive measures.

Establishment of an area 30.

Increase of the dissuasive car parks.

Increase in police controls.

Adaptation of the bike lanes and greenways of the municipality.

To that end, and to end with improvisation, since PODEMOS have insisted that the progress of the General Plan should take these strategic lines, because it is a fundamental aspect of urbanism, and as such should be considered in the participatory process that find in progress.

For the purple formation the mobility plan must start from studying the needs and the different conflictive zones first and their possible solutions.

It is the best way to know first-hand the lack or difficulties that cross the neighborhoods, towns and the center in terms of traffic, sidewalks, bike paths, signaling deficits or parking deterrents
