MC: The opening of the Corvera airport gives continuity to the regional submission to Cartagena and its region (13/01/2019)

Next Tuesday, January 15, in just two days, will open its doors Corvera airport, whose Mobility Plan, prepared by CARM, excludes taxi drivers from outside the city of Murcia, while leaving aside the connections with areas such as La Manga, Lorca or Águilas.

This opening will mean the closure of the San Javier airport, which will stop operating tomorrow and will transfer all its personnel to Corvera.

In this sense, the president of MC Cartagena, Jesus Giménez, regretted that "in two days opens a great infrastructure paid by all the inhabitants of the Region and, as usual, has been created to serve a city."

Immediately afterwards, Giménez criticized the fact that "the policy of plundering and isolating Cartagena and its region continues, which is the economic engine of the region, nothing new."

"They already have their airport in the city of Murcia, closer to their hotels and farther away from the coast." San Javier is now closed for Torre Pacheco and its fairground, and we lose the usual ones, the inhabitants of the Cartagena countryside, victims of the institutional strangulation, "he reasoned.

Without buses for La Manga

Going into specific issues, the president of MC has reported that "to promote tourism have not advanced in the Mobility Plan of Corvera airport, for example, he forgets La Manga." That is, the Executive of the PP despises the destination We have asked for transparency and there is no such plan, which is how they act, in an inefficient, unsupportive and centralist way ".

Another example is the hotel sector "the hotels of Cartagena also see how they distance tourists, the regional stubbornness of opening Corvera harms the tourist activity of the region, weighed down by an inadequate transport".

Veto taxi drivers outside the municipality of Murcia

Regarding the impediment to work in Corvera Cartagena taxi drivers, Giménez recalled that the CARM established a flat rate of 29 euros for transport carried out by professionals in Murcia, the only ones authorized to provide the service.

"To top off, they veto the taxi drivers of Cartagena and the rest of the region and create a monopoly for the city of Murcia charged to all municipalities."

It should be remembered that this veto is due to a political decision of the PP at the regional level, based on article 126 of the National Regulation, "PP and PSOE refuse to modify the norm while they argue for being the king's host".

The Cartagena president concluded by saying that "this is the grip of the PPSOE, executor and accomplice, which prevents progress to both the Region of Cartagena and the other municipalities, so from MC we will not give up in our effort to achieve what It is fair for all the inhabitants of the Region.
