The military barracks of the Battery of Castillitos in Cartagena will be an ecotourism complex (26/12/2018)

The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Ángel del Amor, visited today the restoration works of the old military installations of the 'Campillo de Campillo', located in Campillo de Adentro (Cartagena).

The works have a total budget of 362,000 euros and a subsidy of 144,969 euros through the Rural Development Program, co-financed by 63 percent by European Feader funds and by 37 percent by the Ministry.

The objective of the project is to rehabilitate the quartering, which was in disuse and in a state of neglect, for ecotourism, preserving the environment and valuing the environmental, cultural and scenic characteristics of the area.

The aim is to recover the properties, faithfully respecting the personality and aesthetics of the adjacent buildings and plots, in order to offer quality rural accommodation on a rental basis.

Part of the buildings will be allocated to accommodation for collective use, and another part to individual accommodation and other pavilions for uses of restoration, bar, social rooms, classrooms and library, among others.

The military buildings, of historical and cultural interest, date from the late 30s. Most are pavilions made with masonry stone walls 50 centimeters thick, where the troop of Batteries of Castillitos, belonging to the old body, was housed of Artillery.

The quartering is located in the piedmont East of 'La Loma Larga', under the protection of the west and east winds.

The microclimate of this enclave constitutes one of its main values, since while the winter is very mild and mild, with average temperatures around 17 degrees Celsius, characteristic of this valley, summer is not very hot, since Loma Larga shines the sun of the west in the afternoon, bringing freshness, to be in the umbriaque is shaped in its Northwest face.

The accesses to the farm, whose total area is eight hectares, are carried out by two private roads, one that starts from the road of the Baterías de Cabo Tiñoso and another one from the north that starts from a local road.

This is one of the 17 private projects that mobilize an investment of 1,068,717 euros and that supports the Campoder Local Action Group with a total financing of 487,280 euros in the municipalities of Cartagena, Murcia, Águilas, Totana, Mazarrón, Lorca, Fuente Álamo and Puerto Lumbreras.
