The Community of Irrigation Arco Sur Mar Menor will improve its system of denitrification of brines coming from the evacuation of reclaimed wastewater, through a subsidy granted of 200,000 euros
This community of irrigators of Cartagena has promoted and financed several studies and programs related to the efficient use of water and fertilizers, the control of surface runoff and quantification of the underground discharge to the Mar Menor of the Quaternary surface aquifer.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel Del Amor, today visited the works of improvement in the denitrificadora where he recalled that the regional government, "aware of the important work that has been developing this community in improving the sustainability of his irrigated land, considers it convenient to collaborate financially with said cause ".
Therefore, to favor the good ecological status of the Mar Menor, "it is a priority to promote measures that reduce nitrate inputs to the aquifer and the salt lagoon, as well as to reduce levels and reduce the inflow of underground water flows with nitrates, "said Del Amor.
