Personnel expenses and investments in research and infrastructure recorded the largest increase in the budget of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) for 2019, amounting to 59,301,664.48 euros.
Budgets involve a containment of current expenditure, that is, that dedicated to goods and services, which is reduced by 5.48%.
In addition, the budgets approved today by the Governing Council and by the Social Council, contemplate an increase in income through funds from research contracts with companies and the Network of Chairs.
The increase in the personnel chapter grew by 8.33% compared to last year.
The UPCT will allocate 42 million euros to cover expenses of teaching staff, research and administration and services.
Investments increase by 8.23%.
6.6 million euros are dedicated to this chapter.
Emphasizes the investment in the works of the new School of Architecture and Building and the remodeling of the campus of Alfonso XIII.
The Rectoral Team plans to increase the fund raising of the University through research, transfer and service contracts with companies and institutions.
In this sense, budgets assume an increase in funds from contracts with companies through the so-called Article 83 of the LOU (Organic Law of Universities).
The amount of growth is 685,000 euros.
Research, innovation and knowledge transfer also stands out for the income from the Network of Chairs.
The 2019 budget foresees an increase of 116,000 euros under this heading.
For their part, students will receive 200,000 euros through scholarships and social assistance.
Virtual desks
The improvements aimed at teaching quality translate into an investment of 200,000 euros dedicated to the renovation of facilities, equipment and computer programs.
This chapter provides for the acquisition of state-of-the-art cabling and the implementation of a virtual desktop system, which will allow working from anywhere, without the need for the computer to be physically in the UPCT.
In addition, the budget foresees an increase in the expenditure destined to the coordination of titles.
