The City Council has launched the campaign 'Juguetea' so that no child runs out of toys this Christmas.

The courtyard of the municipal administrative building of San Miguel Street has hosted the opening ceremony of the gift collection point, which will remain open until December 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Political authorities, military and businessmen of the municipality have delivered the first gifts to the two royal pages waiting at the collection point of toys for, later, do them to the children during the night of Kings.

The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, participated in the delivery: the mayor of Festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba;

the mayor of Culture, David Martínez;

the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Mora;

the mayor of Social Services, Mercedes García and the councilor of the area of ​​economic strategy, Carmen Martín.

The mayor of Cartagena thanked the collaboration of all volunteers who this year involved in the collection of toys in an altruistic way, "more than 60 men and women who help us to undertake this campaign so that, approximately, 1,300 boys and girls of the municipality that are in this disadvantaged situation do not run out of toys this Christmas ", while highlighting the important role played in this cause by the 19 collaborating entities.

Castejón has appealed to all citizens to participate in this "beautiful and emotional campaign", to come to deliver a toy, "especially for children from 9 to 13 years, which are usually the most needy which is the age group that receives fewer toys. "

For its part, the vice president of the RASCASA Association, Elisa Gómez, has indicated that they ask for the support of all Cartagena, "to provide that little grain of sand so that children have a gift for the Night of Kings, and can live the illusion of those moments. "

The senior suboficial of the Marine Infantry School, Antonio Navarro, has declared that "it is a great satisfaction to be able to collaborate in this campaign of solidarity and to awaken the illusion in the children of Cartagena".

Also, the president of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations, Juan Gómez, said that "this campaign is for us a pulse that is thrown to the neighbors to all take the smile to the boys and girls of the municipality."

Gómez, thanked the Department of Social Services and the City Council to launch this much needed initiative.

During the presentation of the campaign, the mayor of Social Services, Mercedes Garcia, stressed that donated toys must be new and non-sexist, following the line that marks the Department of Equality through its Christmas campaign.
