Local Police Breathalyzer Controls during this week (10/12/2018)

The Local Police of Cartagena will carry out from Monday, December 10, and until next Sunday, December 16, a campaign of monitoring and control of alcohol during driving, in the municipality of Cartagena.

The controls, aimed at achieving greater awareness in terms of road safety, will be carried out by the Judicial Traffic Police of Cartagena in various streets of the city.

The Road Safety Law is very strict regarding the consumption of narcotics.

For this reason it prohibits driving with the presence of drugs in the body, although substances that are used under medical prescription and for therapeutic purposes are excluded.

The Criminal Code provides for drivers who circulate under the influence of alcoholic beverages, toxic drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances, prison terms of three to six months or fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, that of deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than one and up to four years.

The Road Safety Law, the General Circulation Regulations and the criminal code establish the regulations applicable to the generic and specific maximum limits of alcohol allowed during driving, where non-compliance with these standards is classified as a serious or very serious offense, withdrawal of the driving license and prison sentence if applicable.

Alcohol is present as a concurrent or trigger factor in one third of fatal accidents.

Your presence in driving depending on your rate, multiplies between 2 and 15 the risk of suffering an accident.
