CTSSP: "The lack of control of the terraces 'controlled' by the socialist government" (03/12/2018)

The neighbors denounce that you can not walk the streets of the center.

Plaza del Rey, Calle Honda, Plaza del Icue, Puerta del Arsenal, are just some examples, to which we can add the Plaza San Francisco, especially at Christmas with the placement of the tent of Bethlehem.

Podemos joins the complaints of neighbors, before the inaction of the Government to control what is already out of control.

Before the news appeared today in La Opinion, on the terraces of the bars and restaurants that occupy entire streets and squares in the old part of the city, CTSSP joins the denunciation of neighbors of the center of Cartagena.

According to the purple formation, the lack of control over the occupation of public space, benefiting local hoteliers in the city, has reached such an extreme that you can not walk through certain squares and streets.

The most serious is that this situation can put more barriers to people with reduced mobility, because there are sections where two people can not pass together at the same time.

We can recriminate the Municipal Government that is concerned about implementing the accessibility ordinance and the recently created Municipal Accessibility Council, but do not take care that the streets of the center are accessible to everyone, to all people.

Also criticizes the purple formation, that after having received the City Council the prize of "Friendly City of the Infancy", the children in some squares can not get to use the swings, by the excessive presence of tables and chairs in the zone of games, as is the case of the Plaza del Rey.

CTSSP asks the Government of the City Council to stop being so "permissive" with bars and restaurants, because in addition to having a tourist city, citizens also need to have a more sustainable, more accessible, and more child-friendly city .

"We are going to demand from the Socialist Government that it start up the Terrace Control Plan that began in 2016, when the meters of each terrace began to be delimited by yellow lines, and the placement of metal sheets indicating the space to be occupied by the same, something that did not materialize, leading to the lack of control of the "municipal control" of the terraces in our city, "said Pilar Marcos, spokesperson for CTSSP-Podemos.
