The City Council grants a grant of 7,000 euros to the new board of directors of the FAPA (30/11/2018)

The City of Cartagena has granted a grant of 7,000 euros to the new Federation of Associations of Parents of Students of Cartagena and Region (FAPA Cartagena), to finance the needs and projects of the federation.

The signing of this collaboration agreement by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón and the FAPA, took place this Friday, November 30, after the presentation of the new directive of the federation, which has been in charge of the Councilor for Education, Mercedes García.

The councilor has highlighted "the desire and drive" of the new president of the FAPA, Paqui Galindo Soria, qualities that he shares with the rest of the new team, whose main objective is to defend public education.

The mayor of Education has noted that education is built on three main axes, which are students, teachers and parents, but there must be a fourth axis, the City of Cartagena, which is willing to "defend the same."

He also expressed the great involvement of the parents who make up the new FAPA board, since they have assumed responsibility for public centers in Cartagena.

For his part, Paqui Galindo thanked the City Council subsidy to start developing projects, as well as the assignment of spaces for the celebration of their assemblies and the subsidy of some speakers in their solidarity acts of education.

He has also expressed his commitment to fight for a quality public education, and has indicated that among its most important projects is an Infrastructure Plan to know the needs of the centers because many of them are old;

achieve the elimination of asbestos from education centers;

the free books of Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate;

and free transportation for students of Bachillerato and Vocational Training.

THE FAPA MAKES A SOLIDARITY DONATION TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES AREA

The Councilor for Education recalled that last Saturday, November 24, the FAPA obtained a collection of 2,500 euros in its Solidarity Day, which delivered to the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena, which also directs Mercedes García.

The mayor has announced that, finally, it has been decided to give the donation to the Botica del Libro de Cartagena project, which uses books to integrate the society of the neighborhoods Lo Campano and José María la Puerta through reading.
