Azorín students discover the tradition of Cartagena bowling (27/11/2018)

The students of the CEIP Comarcal Azorín knew and practiced, last Friday November 23, the sport of Cartagena bowling, thanks to the project 'Pasando la Bola'.

An initiative organized by the Association of Neighbors of La Magdalena, and in which they collaborate to make possible their development the Department of Education and Culture of the City of Cartagena, the Federation of Boliones Cartageneros, as well as the Municipal Neighborhood Board Marfagones Molinos.

The Councilor for Education, Mercedes García, participated with the children in 'Pasando la Bola', whose purpose is to preserve the cultural identity of the Campo de la Comarca de Cartagena, its traditions and customs, in relation to the practice of Bowling Cartagenero

During the month of November a total of 135 students and 6 teachers of the 4th, 5th and 6th grades, have moved to the town of La Magdalena.

This project has as direct beneficiaries the students belonging to the Azorín District Public School, which brings together the majority of children from different towns of the county councils of the western area of ​​the municipality, current generations in which the knowledge and practice of This game, which is part of the cultural identity of the Cartagena region.

During the course of the morning of last Friday, November 23, the boys divided into teams, and once chosen a name related to the bowling of Cartagena, held three parallel rotary workshops.

Inside the social premises of La Magdalena was developed, by the artist Juan Pedro Esteban, the plastic expression workshop in which the children painted and decorated the shirts of their team.

Next to the Hermitage of La Magdalena, Rafael Hernández, of the School of Survival 'The Black Wolf', offered the talk and practice on the origin of the throws in the human being with the throwing stick.

And in the 'Play Lane', Master Diego Segovia, with more than 50 years holding bowling pins in his hands, trained the children in the appropriate postures and the various pitches to choose the most qualified student, such as 'Manillas' of your team.

The day continued with a game between the different teams and gave all participants a pin and a card of Cartagena bowler.

Later, in the classroom an evaluation questionnaire was carried out to determine the degree of satisfaction of the activity and the knowledge acquired.

The activity is integrated into the Annual General Programming of the Azorin school, within the project 'Know Our Rural and Urban Environment' and in the teaching program of the Physical Education area, where teachers provide knowledge about history of bowling and game regulations, facilitated by the organization.

The activity is intended to offer other centers of the municipality that have already shown the organizers interest in it.

At the moment a booklet of the bolos Cartagena with drawings and illustrations of Rogelio and Joaquín is prepared, whose purpose is to motivate through its reading in the form of cómic, to the knowledge and practice of this amusing game between the infantile sector, through its distribution in primary schools.
