The Santa Lucia Hospital of Cartagena hosts on the 28th the XII Day of Bioethics and Health Law organized by Area II of Health and the UCAM (22/11/2018)

The humanization in health care is the theme chosen for the exhibition and discussion of issues of clinical practice that can pose an ethical dilemma, share experiences on issues related to ethics, bioethics and health law, reflecting on aspects and values that influence daily activity.

From 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, the auditorium of the Santa Lucía University General Hospital in Cartagena will host the XII Conference on "Bioethics and Health Law", organized by the Department of Human Sciences of the San Antonio Catholic University, the Committee on Care Ethics and the Continuing Education service of the Health Area II, the Intensive Medicine Service of the Santa Lucía Hospital and the Foundation for Health Training and Research of the Region of Murcia have organized in Cartagena .

This formative action, to which professionals can register in the Murciasalud portal and the students of the UCAM through my.ucam.edu, will be inaugurated by the professor of the Degree in Nursing of the UCAM in Cartagena, Dr. Juan Martínez, who is also the coordinator of the day and specialist doctor of the Intensivist Medicine Service of the Santa Lucía Hospital.

Throughout this day, the number academic of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Murcia, Rafael Pacheco, will speak on the "Respect for privacy and confidentiality as a sign of humanization in health care."

For its part, Dr. Teresa Garcia, head of the Oncology Service, and Dr. José Ramón Fernández, the specialist in pediatrics and neonatology at Santa Lucia Hospital, will analyze with a vision "Beyond treatment: the treatment" the case of Andrea Lago, the 12-year-old girl, who suffered from a neurodegenerative disease and died in Santiago de Compostela after the doctors removed, at the request of the family and judicial participation, the artificial food that kept her alive.

Next, a round table will be held, moderated by the geriatricist Inés Gil, on the "Humanization of health care in the care in the final phase of life" with the magistrate José Manuel Nicolás, the professor Pedro Sánchez, the Nurse María García and Dr. María José Martínez.

The afternoon session includes a presentation on "The humanization of health care" by Lay Leon, AtresMedia's Managing Director and a communications table with contributions from the professionals.

The day will end with the presentation of the conclusions, ethical proposals and closure.
