CTSSP will actively participate in the municipal accessibility commission (21/11/2018)

After the session of constitution of the Municipal Commission of Accessibility, CTSSP-Podemos has verified that it is necessary that the City council puts in march the organs of citizen participation, which already they left reflected in their proposal of Regulation of Citizen Participation, commission that is stopped for months.

The purple formation believes in a real participation of citizens, and of course in the case of accessibility it sees it as a priority.

The political parties should not be those that mark the regulations and municipal ordinances: they are the affected groups and the population in general who have to contribute their demands, needs and knowledge in order to get to obtain some regulations accepted by all.

On the other hand, from Podemos they are going to transfer several proposals to the working groups that have been constituted within the Accessibility Commission, such as the adaptation of sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, and even, to make a city more accessible for all, people with disabilities, seniors and children.

From the purple formation they put the accent on the proliferation of terraces of bars and restaurants for all the streets and squares of the city, which prevents the mobility and the accessibility to all the population.

Clear examples are those of the Plaza del Rey, where the terraces are almost above the area of the swings, or those of the Calle del Carmen, or the Gates of Murcia where you can barely walk without having to avoid a terrace of a bar , even covering public banks.

Therefore, CTSSP will raise initiatives to the next November plenary, so that these proposals are collected and worked on within the groups created in the Municipal Accessibility Commission.

"An accessible city has to be for all, not to give priority in the use of public spaces to catering establishments to the detriment of citizenship," said Pilar Marcos spokesperson for CTSSP.
