One thousand five hundred notebooks of the'Loas de Frutas' of Antonio Oliver are distributed free in the fruit shops of Cartagena (16/11/2018)

One thousand five hundred notebooks of the 'Loas de Frutas', by Antonio Oliver Belmás, will be distributed free of charge through the different fruit shops in Cartagena.

The presentation was made by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, this Friday, November 16, at the Santa Florentina Market, where he has given some of these copies.

As explained by the mayor of Culture, "this is one of the ways to honor the great poet Cartagena in the 50th anniversary of his death, to re-publish these loas he made in his own handwriting."

With the gift of these notebooks the figure of Antonio Oliver is approached to the citizens, as another act of the poetic Festival Deslinde, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, and which also includes the International Poetry Prize Antonio Oliver Belmás, convened by the Popular University of Cartagena.

The Board of Trustees Carmen Conde-Antonio Oliver has organized this event as part of the anniversary of the writer's death.

'Loas de frutas' is one of the ten manuscript notebooks that are kept in the Archive of the Board.

The facsimile edition that is given is one of the notebooks that would make up his 'Book of Loas', which he wrote under the heteronym of Andrés Caballero, with the collaboration of his niece Teresina Valdivieso who illustrated them.

At the end of the Civil War, Antonio Oliver spent a long time in seclusion at his sister's house in Murcia.

In that retreat he wrote what would later be his 'Book of Loas', published in 1947. In them, one of the maxims of Oliveria is reflected: "Praise, build, ignite".

Teresina Valdivieso, niece of the poet and disciple of the painter Luis Garay, visited his uncle, who asked him to make the illustrations as he wrote the poems.

He would say of the drawings: "the illustrations of the painter are worth more than the loas, everything is naive, young and charming".

Before this affirmation, she wrote in her diary: "What a barbarity!"

As a result of that complicity between the imprisoned poet and his niece, ten brown little books were born, of which the one containing the 'Fruit Loas' has been chosen.
