Students from La Manga ask for improvements in education in Cartagena (15/11/2018)

The Student Association of the IES Las Salinas del Mar Menor -ADESAMM-, which represents students from La Manga, Cabo de Palos, Los Belones and surrounding areas, presented on October 24 a motion before all the political groups of Cartagena with the which claim improvements for students in the education system and participation at the local level.

Among other demands, the need was transmitted to a quality education -that promotes values ​​of democracy, respect and plurality-, a fair representation with which to give voice to the proposals, needs and demands of the students, and training in Participation, as well as urging the City Council to take measures to promote this freely and effectively within the classroom.

This motion was presented and approved unanimously in the form of an institutional declaration.

Thus, this Saturday November 17, International Student Day, Ivan Garcia will attend as a representative of the student organization to an event at the Palace of Cartagena.

In this act and with the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, she will present a speech on behalf of the students demanding changes that promote the empowerment of youth and their involvement in social and cultural political life.

In the words of García "the students have proposals, we have complaints, we have demands;

we have a voice, and we want that voice to be heard ", referring to the 7 proposals that led to the Cartagena plenary session together with the motion.

He also affirmed that "an education in which student participation is not encouraged is not conceivable.

From public institutions should promote and facilitate ways to ensure it.

It is expected that the event, which will begin at 11:00 in the reception hall of the Palace of the City Hall of Cartagena, will be attended by members of the entire educational community, such as parents, teachers, management teams and, of course, students.

Well, ADESAMM emphasizes that these are, will and always have been the central axis of the education system.
