We can Cartagena returns to denounce the abandonment of Villalba (13/11/2018)

We can Cartagena has visited the neighborhood again and has sadly noted that Villalba is as abandoned as it was months ago, that the municipal government does not guarantee minimum services and that the neighbors feel absolutely unprotected.

Among the many deficiencies detected, which can be seen at first glance, it is worth highlighting: the deplorable state of the blocks of houses (with leaks, facades that fall apart and asbestos roofs);

a plague of rodents that is installed in the neighborhood and that poses a danger to public health of the first order;

a poor security service that arouses many neighborhood complaints;

the evident dirt in the streets due to the bad street cleaning (lack of litter bins and little frequency of sweepers);

green spaces and parks very little cared for, with inadequate maintenance, without irrigation and converted into landfills ...

But if all this were not enough to outrage the neighbors, we must mention the building of what was the Colegio Villalba-Los Llanos, which is not yet owned by the City Council and, therefore, has not been ceded to the numerous and collective assets and neighborhood associations, which have been demanding it for years as a place to launch activities and programs in the neighborhood.

CTSSP-PODEMOS recalls that, thanks to a proper motion approved by all the groups at the beginning of the term, the Local Government and the Regional Government had committed to the transfer of the ownership of the building, a very simple procedure known as "desafectación." However , despite the foreseeable facilities and the neighborhood enthusiasm that this awakened, the truth is that to date the slowness and municipal inaction together with the regional bureaucracy have paralyzed the file and the neighbors contemplate demoralized how the building is empty and without any utility.

According to Podemos, the case of the school is one more example of the lack of attention and lack of attention of the Local Government in relation to the Villalba neighborhood, a neglect that does not even cover minimum services and that reminds of the worst times of the PP, where the only thing that mattered was the appearance of the city and the center and not the quality of life of the people and the state of the neighborhoods and towns of the municipality.

For this reason, CTSSP-PODEMOS will present a battery of questions about Villalba and the need to implement a genuine comprehensive plan for the neighborhood, a plan with coordinated actions, urgent and essential, with the needs described above plus other equally necessary such as training, employment and youth programs, leisure activities, social services personnel, or improvements in infrastructures such as lighting and gardens.
