Manuel Padín: "the PSOE continues to deny the proliferation of violent occupation and drug dealers in Cartagena" (30/10/2018)

Cartagena, Tuesday October 30-.

After the neighborhood complaints about the increase of house burglaries, assaults on public roads, illegal occupation, and the sale of narco-drugs in Los Nietos, Ciudadanos today presented a battery of questions for the Government of the PSOE explain what you intend to do to resolve this situation, in addition to announcing that the police presence in the area will be increased.

On the other hand, Cs has claimed that the specific and insufficient plans that have been announced to stop the gatherings and the neighborhood patrols in the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood extend to at least all the districts and councils of Cartagena that suffer this phenomenon.

The councilor of the PSOE, Manuel Mora, after failing the terminology used by Citizens to refer to a phenomenon they call, "occupation with force in things", has responded by taking stock of all police actions against thefts and the sale of drug in Cartagena.

"Nothing that Mr. Mora has told us has to do with our questions, we do not doubt the effort of our security forces, we doubt the management of this Government, so with this evasive we have to assume that they do not have, nor they will have, while they continue in the Executive, a plan to end narcophones in Los Nietos, or against illegal violent occupations and against the problems of coexistence that this generates in our neighbors, "said Manuel Padín.

The PSOE has denied the largest, that Cartagena suffers the phenomenon of violent occupation and has taken away the importance of narcophones that have been detected in Los Nietos, "I do not know which municipality the PSOE lives in, but it is not Cartagena", affirms Padín.

"In Madrid or Murcia and many other large cities, has been approved with the support of the PSOE and PP our proposal to create a Defense Office for Neighbors, with a Monitoring Unit against squatting and the development of a housing census squatters, but in Cartagena, PSOE and Podemos even deny that there is this problem, despite multiple complaints from the neighborhood and journalistic investigation, "denounces the orange spokesman.

According to the spokesman of Cs, "the PSOE has put a blindfold on their eyes and they will say anything before admitting that they were wrong voting against our Plan for the Protection of Coexistence and Neighborhood Safety".

Regarding his future actions in Las Seiscientas, the PSOE has only said that they are working to increase social intervention, "and that they have not said anything about applying a plan against illegal occupations despite what has been published in the press," Padín reports.

The orange spokesman also reproaches MC and PP for their inaction on this issue, "although we have asked them to work with us to arrive at a consensus text, but they have only given us a long time, they should be more focused on dividing presidencies and vice-presidencies in the councils where they have a majority as they have done in Molinos Marfagones this week ".

The Proposal of Cs that PSOE and Podemos rejects

According to the orange spokesman, "Cartagena must implement a Plan for the Protection of Coexistence and Neighborhood Security against illegal occupation that includes the creation of an Office for the Defense of the Rights of Neighbors Affected by Illegal Occupation, as the body in charge of ensure security and neighborhood coexistence. "

This office must have a monitoring unit against illegal occupations to coordinate surveillance actions and instruct the administrative files that accredit the facts contrary to the ordinances on matters of coexistence and citizen protection.

"This centralized point would advise and protect the identity of the neighbors who feel threatened so that they could denounce without fear of reprisals and the evidence for the relevant judicial processes would be consolidated," explains Manuel Padín, who emphasizes the importance of strengthening the police presence through of the surveillance, with the previous detection of the conflicting black spots, and to activate waves of preventive patrolling in the zones affected by the problem of the occupation.

The City Council must also develop a quantitative and qualitative occupied housing census, indicating the type of occupation, clearly differentiating the mafia occupations of the people who perform them for reasons of necessity, which will also help us to detect those vulnerable families who they require the help of Social Services.
