The Governing Board subsidizes 65 thousand euros for the purchase of books and school materials in 42 centers with students with special economic difficulties (26/10/2018)

The Local Government Board, meeting this afternoon, under the presidency of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved the granting of aid amounting to 64,999 euros to 42 schools in the municipality, supported by public funds, to cover the acquisition of books and school material for students with special economic difficulties.

With them, the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Social Services, tries to alleviate the needs raised by families with special economic difficulties at the beginning of the school year.

The schools and secondary schools themselves have mediated and posed the situation that some of their students were going through, who went to class without books or school materials because they lacked economic resources.

The technicians of the Department of Social Services who have evaluated each of the circumstances and have reported the distribution of aid.

INCLUSIVE TOURISM

Likewise, a grant of 6,000 euros has been granted to the SOI Foundation (inclusive leisure service) in order to develop the SOI Tourism project, which aims to gradually implement measured tourism measures, such as signage and pictograms, to improve accessibility and accessibility. solidarity for people with intellectual disabilities.

CHAIRS OF THE HOLY WEEK

In another vein, the Local Government Board has also agreed to grant a grant of 70 thousand euros to the Board of Brotherhoods of Holy Week, from the collection of the sale of chairs during the past processions.

This aid comes in addition to the one that is also granted annually directly, through the so-called "Ash Wednesday" check, which last year was 200,000 euros.

DISMISSED THE REMEDY TO EMPLOYMENT CONSOLIDATION

Finally, among other matters, the Board has dismissed the appeal filed by an individual against the bases of the extraordinary process of consolidation of employment that takes place in the City of Cartagena and affects about 150 public employees, who are in the municipal staff as interim or undefined non-fixed.

The appeal was based on the highest score of merits that applicants with experience in positions of the city council themselves will obtain in opposition to other public administrations.

The dismissal is based on the very extraordinary nature of the process contemplated in the law and in the plan for the organization of human resources that was previously approved by the Governing Board and which already contemplated this possibility and was not used at the time.
