Cs asks for an Urban Planning Commission for Castejón to clarify if it intends to stop 100 million euros in urban development (25/10/2018)

- "We are concerned that the PSOE will continue to contribute to the urban slowdown of the municipality and refuse to grant licenses for provisional use with the legal protection that Citizens have obtained with the approval of the transitory rules," says the spokesman of Cs Cartagena, Manuel Padín

- Citizens demand explanations for the plan of the City Council to avoid a claim of 140 million euros on account of the Novo Carthago project, and to report on the status of work to create the new General Plan for Urban Planning

After attending today the ordinary session of the Informative Commission of Urbanism and Infrastructure, the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padin, has indicated that "unfortunately, not a single mention has been made on three crucial issues for the future of Cartagena, as is the application of the transitory urban planning standards approved by the Regional Assembly, the way in which the City will face the threat of a claim of 140 million euros from the company Hansa Urbana for breach of the agreement in the Novo Carthago project, or the latest news regarding the construction of a new General Plan of Urban Planning ".

That is why the orange training has already sent a letter to the mayor and the Department of Sustainable Development to convene as a matter of urgency an Informative Commission on Urbanism.

"We are concerned that the PSOE will continue to contribute to the urban slowdown of the municipality and refuse to grant licenses for provisional use with the legal protection that Citizens has achieved with its amendment to the Business Acceleration Act," says Manuel Padín who recalls that PSOE and We may have voted against the release of the rules, "that vote against is only explained by an ideology of interest and false, or the horrifying ignorance that these parties have of the amendment, which at no time alters the environmental guarantee of procedures and that only acts on consolidated urban land of the municipality and rural nuclei always in accordance with basic environmental regulations and that do not have to be subjected to an environmental impact assessment ".

In any case - highlights Manuel Padín - if Mrs. Castejón has any one doubt in any specific case, she may not grant the license, that is, there is no possible excuse to stop our urban development and the generation of wealth and employment.

As the City Council is the only one that can grant these licenses, the orange training fears that the mayor of Cartagena will prevent the construction of some 600 homes in the urban environment (without environmental damage), "the political posture of the PSOE is over, now they have to assume their responsibilities as Government and take advantage of the work of Citizens to promote urban development, activate our battered labor market and housing and unlock some fourteen actions in the central metropolitan area of Cartagena that are projects that have an estimated value of 100 million of euros, with the corresponding income to the municipal coffers through taxes ".

"Citizens arrive to where it arrives, we have done all the work, but now it is the PSOE that has to execute the unblocking", concludes Padín.

Regarding the ultimatum given by the company Hansa Urbana to the City Council to resume the necessary administrative procedures to reactivate the urban project of Novo Carthago, the spokesman for Citizens believes that "the facts are relevant enough to inform the rest of training policies that represent 83 percent of the electorate, and more taking into account that it is possible that one of the measures to paralyze the processing of the macrourbanization on the shores of the Mar Menor will depend on the ordinary Plenary ".

"We can claim 140 million euros and our duty as an opposition is to ensure that the PSOE does not stumble or do anything irregular that can leave the Town Hall mortgaged for decades," says Manuel Padin.

As for the projects that do require a strategic environmental assessment, (as in the case of the expansions in the Valley of Escombreras) the Cs spokesperson recalled that his group has registered a motion to promote them that will defend the next day 30 of October, "here there are pending investments worth 33 million euros, and more income through the Icio", warns Padin.

Cs will also ask for explanations for the status of the works of the company that won the award for 136,000 euros of the advisory service and drafting the advance and strategic start documents for the revision of the General Plan of Urban Planning, as well as the process of public participation.

"We know that the execution period is six months, but we can not be deaf and blind all the time until February 2019, or even May in the middle of electoral turmoil," says Manuel Padín.
