The City Council, SEPES and the CARM agree to speed up the agreement that will allow the start of the ZAL of Los Camachos at the beginning of 2019 (02/10/2018)

This morning a meeting of the Mesa de la ZAL was held, which was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;

of the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde;

the president of the Port Authority, Joaquín Segado;

the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández;

the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martínez;

and the president of the Business Association of Los Camachos, Antonio Bentancor;

among others.

The mayor pointed out before the meeting that since September 24 until today, the central government has sent unequivocal signals that she wants to unblock the ZAL project and the land that Sepes has in Los Camachos.

"The Secretary of State for Development and the CEO of SEPES committed themselves in their visit to Cartagena to have a draft agreement ready in the first half of October, as it has been.

In addition, in the meeting we had yesterday, the CEO of SEPES showed us his predisposition to relax the conditions of the agreement as much as necessary within the law to facilitate the ZAL of Los Camachos is a reality as soon as possible and that even as soon as the Community gave its approval to the agreement, an extraordinary Administrative Council would be convened to finally approve this document, "explained Castejón.

Also, the mayor has shown the willingness of the local administration to approach positions with the rest that administrations involved in the project and has been sure that citizens and the business value positively how the government of Spain has proven with facts with which you want to continue moving forward to find a solution.

The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia has committed to study, as soon as possible, the new draft agreement of the ZAL project, presented last Monday, October 1, by SEPES, and which aims to start of the Logistics Activity Zone of the Los Camachos Polygon as soon as possible.

For his part, Valverde said that at the meeting they would discuss the new agreement of the ZAL, "which is an action of regional interest", as well as explain the master plan corresponding to the UA1, which consists of the first 65,000 meters for the transfer of the Franco Deposit;

and the action plan to attract investors for the ZAL of Cartagena.

He also stressed the importance of the development of the ZAL of Los Camachos for Cartagena, as it is a "necessary action for the Mediterranean Corridor," added the counselor.

From the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure of the Region of Murcia have shown their commitment during the meeting to quickly study the new proposal submitted by Sepes, to formalize the agreement as soon as possible.

The objective now is, therefore, to make effective the first phase of the project at the beginning of the year 2019, which consists of moving the Franco Warehouse to the north zone of the Los Camachos Polygon and which is currently in the vicinity of Lo Campano .

In addition, Sepes has committed to convene the Extraordinary Board of Directors as soon as the autonomous community studies the new draft agreement and can be formalized.

NEW AGREEMENT OF THE ZAL

The director general of Sepes, Alejandro Soler, explained yesterday that the agreement of cession of the floor in Los Camachos for the installation of the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) is completed by Sepes with more favorable conditions for the Carm, given its difficulties budget to buy the 3.5 million square meters.

Specifically, the new document contemplates the immediate sale of the first 270,000 square meters, as well as the right to purchase the rest of the land by the Autonomous Community.

The Community will have to pay only 1% of the total price of the land to guarantee this right to purchase, which is about 300,000 euros.

The agreement will have a duration of four years, extendable for four more years.

This is the limit established by the law for agreements and can not be extended any longer.

In addition, the price of 10 euros that had been agreed on is maintained, according to the director of Sepes.
