MC demands a stop quota in Corvera for taxi drivers in Cartagena and Comarca (27/09/2018)

This week has been news the announcement of strike of the taxi drivers of the city of Murcia to demand exclusivity of service of stop in the International Airport of Corvera.

The president of the majority taxi association in Cartagena said this morning that they are demanding a joint service area for this airport and a quota of 25 taxis that have a stop in Corvera.

The president and spokesman of MC Cartagena, Jesus Giménez, has pronounced on the matter saying that "it is a matter of political will, of wanting to act in a just and supportive way, giving space to professionals from Cartagena, San Javier or Fuente Álamo or , on the contrary, create a new monopoly only for Murcia taxi drivers ".

"You should not give in to the blackmail of the taxi drivers of the city of Murcia, because it is a regional infrastructure paid by everyone and not by its City Council, so it must be the Ministry of Development who listens to everyone and shares the licenses of stop between all the municipalities of the Region of Campo de Cartagena, in addition to Murcia, Alcantarilla or Molina, "he argued.

Giménez added that "it is an issue that we put on the table from MC in 2016, in which we have maintained contacts with San Javier and that is fair, as well as offering an outlet for excess licenses in some municipalities like ours because of the ominous management of PP in this matter, another more ".

The Cartagena spokesman has considered that "if the taxi drivers of Cartagena, López Miras and Arroyo, Castejón and Torralba are to be vetoed, they will have to render accounts of a cacicada that discriminates against those who, like all the inhabitants of the Region, have paid for the airport. that now leave benefits only to Murcia (Murcia). "

Municipal blockade to the sector

Regarding the municipal situation around the sector, MC spokesman, and former municipal coordinator of Sustainable Development, regretted that "socialist leaders pass the taxi, as any collective or measure that has to do with mobility."

Finally, Jesús Giménez concluded by stating that "we hope that the municipal government does not spend on advertising the money of the Strategic Plan of the Taxi or of the aids to the adaptation of eurotaxi (for people with reduced mobility), because we include them in the budget to help a sector very hit by the crisis and by the inaction of PP and PSOE ".
