The Polytechnic prepares agreements of mobility and cooperation with Cuba (26/09/2018)

Cuban PhD students can be the first beneficiaries of the international mobility programs that the Polytechnic of Cartagena wants to extend to Cuba to further increase its openness abroad.

The general director of the business group Gemes, under the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, Dolores Castro Abraldes, has visited the UPCT today to build bridges of cooperation in the field of education and to deliver the framework agreement signed by the Polytechnic of Cartagena and the University of Havana.

The UPCT will promote that Cuban students can benefit from the academic mobility program Erasmus + KA107, for non-European countries, and that, specifically, doctoral students can achieve a double degree in Cartagena.

They will also try to develop cooperation projects to improve educational logistics in Cuba, as explained by the Vice Chancellor of Internationalization, José Manuel Ferrández.

The head of Gemes has also met at the UPCT with the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández, and has been interested in the "success model" of the Funcarele foundation, of which the UPCT is patron, to replicate it in Havana and enhance language tourism.

The Polytechnic has submitted applications to the Erasmus + KA 107 program to receive students and staff from 16 non-European countries, which is expected to increase the internationalization of the UPCT, which already stands out as one of the Spanish universities with the largest presence of students Foreign.

In fact, this course has multiplied by twelve, up to half a hundred, Chinese students in official degrees.
