Cartagena presents three candidacies for the Premios Juventud de la Región de Murcia year 2018 (14/09/2018)

The Department of Youth, aware of the importance of recognizing and rewarding actions and initiatives of young people, has presented the call for the Youth Awards of the Region of Murcia 2018 to three young Cartagena who have stood out for their initiative, social entrepreneurship and projection Social.

The candidates for these awards are:

Young Prize of the Year to Álvaro Pintado Hernández

Álvaro Pintado has been a co-founder and promoter of the creation of the Youth Orchestra of Cartagena, an entity created two years ago with the intention of recovering orchestral music among the youngest, and from the beginning its titular Director.

As Principal Conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena (JOSCT), he has performed numerous performances and concerts throughout the Region in just two years.

Today it has an important presence in the educational and musical landscape of the municipality and coordinates the effort of more than 100 instrumentalists not only from the Region of Murcia, but also from other communities such as Madrid, Castilla La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Andalucía and Islas Balearics.

Initiative Award to Álvaro Luis Valdesueiro Correa

Álvaro Luis Valdesueiro is the Founding President of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena.

For more than 65 years, Cartagena had a great lack, not at all normal in a city of its size and importance.

That of a Symphony Orchestra.

Further on, in Cartagena there never existed a symphony orchestra that served to train its young musicians before giving way to the professional orchestra.

Thus, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, was born in April 2016 on the initiative of Álvaro Luis Valdesueiro and a group of young natural musicians from Cartagena, with the intention of filling that gap in the city since the middle of the last century.

With this initiative this young entrepreneur along with the JOSCT, apart from covering the existing artistic gap in the city.

"The idea comes from the need to find my place in the field of environmental education and awareness," says Lorena.

Beyond managing orchards, he felt the opportunity to contribute his point of view and the knowledge and experiences that his father taught to anyone who wanted to enter this world.

With this project, the problem of disinformation with regard to food, the lack of resources for self-sufficiency and the need for moments in contact with nature are resolved.

"At this moment more than 200 people have passed through this space in order to do an activity different from the one offered in our region," he explained.
