Cartagena workers interested in sustainable agriculture can improve their knowledge with two free courses (05/09/2018)

The Association ANSE, with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena and the Association of Neighbors of Algar, will hold two free courses for active workers who are interested in obtaining knowledge on a more sustainable agriculture.

These activities are aimed at promoting biodiversity, controlling erosion and reducing pollutants, as well as implementing measures to improve sustainability in agriculture.

Thus, next Friday, September 14, is held in Cartagena the theoretical-practical course of differentiation and quality of agricultural product, which can see how the way of producing a food affects its quality and how to differentiate those food products that have different characteristics.

The course has a theoretical part and a practical demonstration of simple equipment for quality control of agricultural product and irrigation water.

On Wednesday, September 19, there will be a workshop on the implementation of hedges in El Algar, which will deal with the functions that hedges can perform, the most important steps for the design, implementation and maintenance of a hedge, as well as some of the most useful species, according to the functions we want the hedge to fulfill.

First, a theoretical exhibition will be held and then a field trip will be made in which different hedges installed on farms will be visited.

This course is developed with the support of ArcoSur Mar Menor.

Both courses, with a duration of 5 hours, will be held from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The project aims to promote sustainable practices in conventional and ecological agriculture.

In addition, there will be an approach of conventional farmers to organic farming and an implementation of measures to improve sustainability in the activity.

Advisory actions will be carried out for farmers and other workers in the agricultural sector, paying special attention to zones vulnerable to Nitrate Pollution and intensive agriculture.

For more information and registration you can visit the project website or contact ANSE through email or telephone 968 966407

The project 'Towards a more sustainable agriculture, techniques for reducing the impacts of irrigation within and outside the Natura 2000 network' is developed by ANSE within the framework of the GreenEmployment Program of the Biodiversity Foundation, an entity under the Ministry for Ecological Transition, co-financed by the ESF, with the collaboration of the Department of Quality of Life and Wellbeing of the City of Cartagena.

The activities are free, co-financed by the European Social Fund, and are aimed mainly at workers in the agricultural sector.
