The urban culture returns to be protagonist in a new edition of the UrbanCTFest (04/09/2018)

With the month of October, the second UrbanCt Fest festival of urban culture lands in Cartagena, the main event of the UrbanCt Program of the Youth Council, whose objective is to publicize all the modalities of this culture in the municipality and generate a space for coexistence, exchange of knowledge and skills through exhibitions and competitions, under the basic principles of equality, respect and alternative leisure.

The Councilor for Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez;

and the local artist, author of the poster and promotional video, Monigote McCoy, have been in charge of offering all the details of the autumn cultural event in the municipality.

Martinez, explained that this year will again have activities carried out in the previous edition as the Break and Beatbox Championship, Battle of MC's Skate, BMX, bike trials, skateboards, Urban Dance, Graffiti, Parkour, Opentable Scratch, adding to the already existing new additions such as a DJ's Competition, Graffiti and Street Art Contest, LoopStation Championships, Skate and StreetBall, Rock & Roller derby and Tattoo exhibitions.

In the same way, UrbanCtFest will once again have an Urban Market where you can buy items and demand services related to urban culture.

The mayor of Youth, David Martinez, has indicated that, as a novelty, in this edition the smallest will also have a space addressed to them with the realization of a Graffiti children's workshop taught by local artists of Graffiti and Street Art, as well as a parkour circuit with specialized monitors in this discipline.

The Championships and Contests will endow the winners with cash prizes, opting for all those registered to participate in the raffle of gifts donated by the collaborating companies, as well as free accommodation and meals for the participants.

To end the day, the Naughty Party will take place in the University Parking, starting at 10 p.m.

An event that will feature the participation of: Beauw Brain;

Loka Flores;

3 Dj Residents Travieso Club- MC Gos and 2 Professional Ballerinas of Twerking.

All those interested in participating in this great event can register through the web or (less in those with previous registration deadline) the same day of its celebration by filling in the corresponding card.

THE URBANCT IS ALSO A SOLIDARITY FESTIVAL

Solidarity will also have a place in this event in which those enrolled in the StreetBall Championship and Battle of MC's can, voluntarily, leave a donation to benefit the SOI - Inclusive Leisure Service - and ASTRADE - Association for the Care of People with Generalized Disorders of the development of the Region of Murcia - those who have not yet participated want to contribute their grain of sand will have a Row 0 to make their contribution.

Saturday, October 6, will also be a special day for all but, more specifically, for skateboarding enthusiasts, since the Urban Sports Park, by unanimous decision of the Municipal Plenary, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, will discover a plaque in tribute to Ignacio Echevarria, skateboarder who died in the London bombings of 2017.

LOCAL AND NATIONAL ARTISTS PRESENT AT THE FESTIVAL

Monigote McCoy, Cartagena artist of animation, is the author of the image and promotional video of this second edition.

"The poster was clear to me from the beginning, for me it is the most representative of our city," said McCoy, "On the poster you can see two spray cans as beacons, something very representative of Cartagena's heritage.

In addition, the Festival will have the artistic contribution of great local artists and the rest of the country:

This edition will host part of the Spain Team that represented us in the World Championship of Beatbox and LoopStation, Pulmon, Zekka, Gabyx and Ali Beats.

On behalf of local artists stand out the names of Kraser and Soze, bastions of streetart and graffiti of our city.

Dj Jotar, collaborator since the beginning of this program, will be a judge with Dj Harden, who participated in the rapsinfónico.

The winners of the previous edition, Alvarone and Elhiu, will be in charge of acting as judges of the break championship.

They will do with the Captain Flash co-organizer of the Southeast Project one of the best Break Championships in Spain.

One of the new initiatives has been carried out by Baster member of the DeDeTe Klan, a historic rap group from Cartagena, who along with other prominent members within the Rap will perform the Battle of MCS, thus creating the Astrade Battle of Solidarity.

In this same direction goes the StreetBall Championship that, with the collaboration of the Cartagena Students Club, will allocate the donations to the SOI collective.

COLLABORATORS OF THE URBANCT FEST

Also, the mayor of Youth, has stressed that "the UrbanCtFest, would not be possible without the collaboration, one more year, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena in this new edition extends the cession of their spaces, Parking of the University and Urban Pavilion, for a better development of the activities of that day, facilitating the affluence of public ".

In the same way, Martínez has stated that it is "also important to mention the groups of the city that collaborate in the festival as FAM, Free Artistic Move and The Jumps associations that promote the Poarkour and Free runnig.

A new skate association, Brother Hood, organizes that championship. "

Other great collaborations that bet on this festival, are companies such as: Pioneer Dj who together with Arroyo Sonido collaborate in the Djs Competition, as well as the Weekend DJ festival where the winner of the contest will participate next year.

Montana Colors together with Tkrom and Pinturas Briz sponsor the Graffiti and Street Art contest. Soho, a shop specialized in the world of Skate, provides gifts to the winner.
